The United States Attorney’s Office prosecutes all federal criminal cases and represents the interests of the United States in civil cases in Maryland. The United States Attorney has two offices – the Northern Division located in Baltimore and the Southern Division located in Greenbelt.
The Criminal Division prosecutes cases including violent crimes, narcotics conspiracies, white collar fraud, public corruption, child exploitation, civil rights violations, environmental crimes, and national security matters. The Civil Division defends the interests of the United States in civil litigation, pursues affirmative civil enforcement in a variety of fraud matters.
The United States Attorney is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant United States Attorney, to serve as a criminal prosecutor in the Greenbelt office.
This 14 month term position may be extended and/or made permanent without further competition.
Due to COVID-19, if selected, you may be expected to telework for an undefined period under the Department’s evacuation authority, even if your home is located outside the local commuting area. Employees in this status may be notified of a requirement to report in person to the component workplace with an advance notice of not less than 30 days. Prior to a requirement to report to the workplace, employees may be eligible to request to continue to telework one or more days a pay period depending upon the terms of the component’s telework policy.
Applicants must demonstrate excellent academic and professional credentials, superior oral and written communication skills, good judgment, and the ability to function with minimal guidance in a demanding environment. An applicant is required to possess a J.D. degree, be an active member in good standing of at least one bar, and have at least 3 years of post-J.D. legal experience.
